Data App
A data app lets anyone explore your data or use your model in a web browser — no Python required. We build interactive apps with Streamlit in pure Python, then deploy them to Streamlit Cloud so they get a public URL you can share.
Topics
- Data App Tutorial — build an app for the world cities dataset with a map, a chart, and slider, multiselect, and form filters, then publish it to GitHub and deploy it to Streamlit Cloud.
- Data App Lab — on your own: build and deploy a similar app for the California housing dataset, with a price slider, sidebar filters, a map, and a histogram.
- In-Class Group Exercise — in teams: pick any Kaggle dataset, decide who needs a dashboard and why, choose what to show from EDA and business sense, set a real-world refresh frequency, then build and deploy it, with the reasoning written up in a README.
Datasets
- worldcities.csv.zip — world cities with a population over one million, used in the tutorial.
- housing.csv.zip — California housing data (1990), used in the lab.
Github Pages
Github pages enable you to host static website using Github. By default, the README.md will be the default landing page once Github Pages is configured.
Data App Tutorial
In this tutorial, you build a Streamlit app that explores a world cities dataset, then deploy it to Streamlit Cloud so anyone can use it.
